ORB finished work on this beautiful ocean front home, situated in the village of Island Harbour, in 2011. One of the things we love, and that sets this property apart, is the extensive use of beautiful Anguilla coral stone to face the walls and attractive use of tropical wood to create a classically Caribbean effect.

It is our pleasure to recommend Gareth Orchard of Orchard, Romney and Beck. Gareth was the builder of our dream home in Island Harbor, Anguilla. We live in Fairfax, VA and had been looking for the right opportunity to build a home in the Caribbean. We had heard many stories about the adventures of building a home in the Caribbean. We benefited from their recommendations and, it was one of those stories that led us to Gareth Orchard.
The building of our home commenced in March 2010 and we moved in June 2011. While building a home is inherently stressful, building a home in the Caribbean while living in the US can be daunting. We considered renting an apartment nearby during the building process but soon learned that it was not necessary. Gareth Orchard was an invaluable partner throughout the process and we were extremely pleased with the final result. Specifically, we would give Gareth top marks in the following areas:
The quality of work was consistently top notch. Gareth’s team is skilled and competent in their respective trades. They were conscientious about following building specifications. The pride in their work is evident. Gareth and his crew were extremely clean and tidy at the job site.
Gareth planned, coordinated, and managed the activities of different work crews effectively. He was closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to follow through are assets which enable him to juggle the extensive details involved in building a home for long distance clients.
Throughout the building process, we were impressed with Gareth’s commitment to building a top quality home. When situations arose requiring work outside the original scope, Gareth involved us in an informed decision making process that culminated in a mutually agreed upon change order.
Gareth kept us informed of every step of the building process and projected completion dates of different phases of building. His communication (whether by cell phone or email) was always clear, informative, and helpful. He would send pictures of the progress at regular intervals.
In his proposal, Gareth gave a clear breakdown of cost for each facet of building. His contract was just as detailed in describing the work and the itemized costs. Same with change orders. When the house was completed, all the work was completed as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. We felt Gareth delivered exactly what he had promised, at the agreed upon price.
In closing, we are very pleased with our home and remain extremely impressed with Gareth’s work. We would not hesitate to engage Gareth again. We recommend Gareth Orchard to you most enthusiastically and without any reservations.
